Sandile holds a B-Tech: Chemical Engineering and an MBA. He has over 27 years of experience in the corporate environment, 15 of which have been in healthcare in various senior management and directorship positions. He gained exposure in leadership roles early on in his career in various industries, including the engineering and manufacturing industries and, most recently, has worked for listed private hospital groups. Sandile is equally passionate about making affordable quality healthcare accessible to all, as he is about leadership development.

Shamila holds an MBChB, MBA (cum laude) and post-graduate Diploma in Occupational Health, and is currently completing a post-graduate Diploma in Health Economics. She has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare and has worked in the corporate sector for eight years, holding senior management and directorship positions. Her role as an Occupational Medicine Practitioner has given her exposure to many different industries over the last 14 years. Shamila is passionate about supporting clients through providing holistic employee health and wellness solutions.
NONTO MAEKO

Nonto holds a BA General (cum laude) and BA Honours: Psychology. She has 25 years of experience in a corporate environment, 19 of which have been in health and wellness. Her various roles in wellness have enabled her to implement fit-for purpose wellness solutions in various sectors, including manufacturing, public, banking and consumer services. Nonto is passionate about supporting organisations in creating a sustainable impact on their employees’ wellbeing.
HEIKE MACKENZIE

Heike has over 33 years of secretarial and office management experience, of which 23 years have been in the medical aid industry, seven years in operations and finance and three years in internal audit. She is passionate about her internal and external customers, and strives to provide them with “quality customer service”.
ANTON LE ROUX

Anton holds the following qualifications: BCom (Industrial Psychology), BCom (Hons. Investment Management) and MCom (Business Management). His experience includes management positions held at various companies in the employee benefits and healthcare industries.
CARL MANSER

Carl has a Diploma in Higher Education, a Diploma in Sports Management (cum laude) and a post-graduate Diploma in HIV/Aids Management. He has held many management and executive positions including positions at Eskom, The Careways Group and Reaction Consulting. In June 2012, Carl was appointed as the Business Executive responsible for Business Growth and Partnerships at EOH WHW and continued to hold this position when the EOH WHW business was acquired by Life Healthcare. Carl was an active board member of SABCOHA and remains involved in many CSI initiatives.

Paul has 35 years of financial services experience ranging from unit trust, banking (secured and unsecured), asset management, health and both long- and short-term insurance. Paul strives for fresh thinking, agile service delivery, open communication and personal service which the wise minds and young hearts at EssentialMed promise. Established in 2005 for medical insurance and cover, the team does not follow, but leads with an insatiable appetite for product development, improvement and never compromising on their commitment to service.

Charl has extensive experience in the healthcare industry spanning a 32-year career which include Director at a leading global pharmaceutical firm, building health distribution centres to medical scheme and corporate health (including mining) management services.
RECHELLE ALLY-HOOSAIN

Rechelle holds a B Com (Accounting) and is qualified as an accountant through the South African Institute of Professional Accountants. She served her articles in a small Durban-based audit firm which helped her gain valuable experience within audit, finance, and tax departments. She was exposed to many different industries during this time. Rechelle joined Sanlam Health in 2014 as a Finance Manager, where her journey in the corporate health industry began, and she was appointed Senior Finance Manager in 2016. She has gained valuable leadership experience during the last nine years with Sanlam and Afrocentric. This fuelled her passion and interest in affordable healthcare and employee wellness services, leading to her appointment as Chief Operating Officer in April 2023.
KERRY HERTOG

Kerry has been in the financial services industry for more than 25 years. Many of these were spent consulting corporates and organisations in the health insurance sector. With an extensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks in this sector, she has been involved in product design, implementation and distribution of various products that respond to the need for transformation and inclusion of all.
She is committed to being part of the solution that ensures all South Africans have access to health cover regardless of their income level.
MAGIE PILLAY
BCompt (Accounting Sciences)
Senior Manager: Finance | AfroCentric Corporate Solutions

Magie holds a B-Compt Accounting Sciences qualification, with Articles and is a registered AGA (SA). He is pursuing his studies towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting Sciences and holds SAICA Assessor accreditation. Magie was one of only three candidates that were selected for the Group TOPP program in 2017 for future CA (SA)’s. During his tenure with the Group he has also completed a number of leadership courses. Magie has more than 20 years’ experience in the healthcare sector, including roles in healthcare care finance, operations and internal auditing.
